The best thing to know how old your instrument is through its serial number. Depending on the manufacturer, the serial number can be found at the back of the headstock or the back of the guitar for electric guitars. Also, you can find the serial numbers of acoustic guitars in these places or on the sticker of the soundhole and at the top brace between the bridge and the soundhole.

Sep 20, 2009 The serial number will tell you a lot. Sammick guitar factory in Indonesia (SI). The first 1 or 2 numbers indicate the year of manufacture, so without knowing the condition of the guitar, or it's history, my first inclination would be to say it was a 2004.
I bought a nice used Cherry Red one at local Guitar Center and I have a few questions. This is the 1st OE 30 I have seen without the Delta King on the headstock. It has the Oscar Schmidt Washburn label at the top. Were these decals or painted on.There is also no OE-30 label on the headstock. On the label inside the body it says OE 30 CH serial 9120077.Where was this guitar made and when?Any ideas? It is sweet and plays great.Thanks.
I got a used one that had been seriously moded in-shop for 300, and it had the delta king thing on it, as well as the logo. I know that the price is weird, but IT'S AWEASOME. It has a phase switch, coil taps, and a series switch, all as pull-push knobs. serial number:S103070409. It looks mostly like the black headstock except there's no model # on the truss rod cover. I think that these are great. It's like an epiphone dot and a casino got down and dirty on the beach and had this baby. (especially if you pop the pickguard off)
A vintage Gibson K-1 Mandocello circa 1918, serial number 47181. The headstock reads "The Gibson" in mother-of-pearl. Nancy Wilson used this guitar to record some of the tracks from Heart's 2004 Jupiters Darling album. Accompanied by a color photograph of Wilson holding the guitar, signed "[heart] Nancy Wilson" in black marker, and a hardshell case.
Looking stunning with a striking two-tone Silver Burst finish, all three guitars are based on the very popular Vintage V6, V75 and V100 models, uniting all the innovative incarnations that have made these models not only Vintage classics in their own right, but also the number one choice for a countless number of guitar players around the world, favoured for their consistency within superb playability, exceptional tone and innovative hardware designs.
I have been going back and forth on purchasing a 1962 B45-12. Everything indicates it to be a B45-12, serial number puts it at 1962, nut width is 2", black headstock, glued not screwed pickguard. I have seen photos of others online for sale and many show a stamping inside with the model number but I cannot find any marking in the body. Is this normal for this year and model?
Are you sure you are not talking about a B25-12? These were introduced in 1962 so the serial number would work. That model was built with a plain black heasdtock. You can measure the lower bout. If the guitar is a B-25-12 it should be 14 1/2" 2ff7e9595c
